Last week we also met with Dante Munoz and Carlos Levinton from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Buenos Aires. Carlos directs the Centro Experimental de la Production (CEP) – Experimental Recycling Centre – and welcomed us as family members into its fold. We were introduced to the fabulous projects that they organize, including what they call social factories, working in poor areas, where they teach children new technologies so they can teach their parents. They have embraced all sorts of exciting recycling projects and educational experiments as well as the development of a recycling museum, now sadly closed. Dante and Carlos invited us to take part in a class for teenage school children one morning, and we really started to understand what their group was about. They are innovative, caring, socially minded, working with all manner of groups in different areas of Argentina and Bolivia. They function on the voluntary support of faculty and architects as well as locals who wish to get involved. It is truly inspiring to see this group in action. We were very moved by the commitment and love that is shared and that fuels this enterprise.
