SUMMARY:On Belonging Performance
DESCRIPTION:This November\, the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA) is delighted to present On Belonging at the Tusten Theatre in Narrowsburg. On Belonging is an initiative by Standing People Together Theatre designed to draw on the voices of the community. The project was developed in part through funding provided by a Sullivan 180 grant. \nThe evening promises to showcase both the wealth of writing and acting talent in the area\, with performances of four original plays written by local playwrights\, each exploring a different response to the idea of “belonging” (or not) in a particular place and time. \n“We aim to highlight the issues surrounding the concept of ‘belonging’ and ‘place’\, to raise awareness of their connection to well-being and health and to start a conversation which we hope will lead to a greater civic muscle in Sullivan County.” \nYou can purchase tickets for the performances here: https://delawarevalleyartsalliance.org/event/on-belonging-11-02-2024/

SUMMARY:Ecotopia Retreat
DESCRIPTION:‘Beneath the noise of headlines\, arguments and quick explanations\, a quieter\nquestion may be waiting: what capacities must we strengthen together if we are\nto navigate an uncertain future with wisdom\, rather than folly?’ (Miriam Joy\nJones\, Beyond Listening\, March 2026). \nTaking inspiration from the natural world and Ernest Callenbach’s book\, Ecotopia\, Standing People Together and Damascus Citizens for Sustainability\, invite all those working to support our community and our environment – amid a backdrop of chaos – to a nature-based retreat in the Western Catskills. \nWe are all feeling overburdened\, overwhelmed and under-resourced. This gathering offers space for collective wisdom to emerge so we can grow stronger together. \nParticipants are welcome to attend daily\, or camp overnight (bring tent). \nSuggested cost share of food and supplies $75 or pay what you can. Maximum number participants 15.  Register here or for further information\, contact  caroline@wasteforlife.org
