DESCRIPTION:Engineering and Care for our Communities \nThis year\, Caroline Baillie\, Eric Feinblatt\, and Sarah Brownell from RIT\, will be hosting conversations around the theme\, ‘Engineering and Care for our Communities’ – we invite you to bring your own questions\, conversation topics\, and activities. Just to get started …. How can engineering incorporate design principles with the aim of developing closed-loop\, symbiotic\, self-sustaining human habitats and productions systems that do not result in ecological degradation or social injustice? \nMany of you have attended before and know what to expect\, but for those who haven’t\, here are some details. \nJune 19th: arrival for overnight retreat guests\nJune 20th: 9 AM breakfast followed by retreat workshop until 5PM. Lunch provided. Afterwards\, there is open space for enjoying the forest\, swimming\, kayaking on the pond\, and dinner\nJune 21st: 9 AM breakfast followed by retreat workshop until 5PM. Lunch provided. You are welcome to stay overnight and travel the following day if you need to. \nThe registration fee is $50 or $100 depending on your ability to pay. This covers the cost of food and materials. If you have special requests or needs regarding payment or anything else\, please email Caroline Baillie. Also\, let us know if you’d like to pay for someone else. \nTravel: We are located at about 2.5 hrs from NYC or 1.5 hrs from Binghamton by car\, or you can catch a train or bus from NYC\, and we can arrange transport from the station.
