Carlos Perini and his cooperative Avellenada was in a much healthier place this week when we visited. I wanted to make sure Carlos did not think we had forgotten him even though we still didn’t have any firm plans for a hotpress so we returned and met with several members of the coop. In the last few weeks they have stepped up their operation and have joined with another cooperative that has brought into the marriage a working plastics chopping machine. They can now collect, hand sort, chop, wash and dry plastic for sale by type. They had also discussed our project amongst all the members and were extremely keen to go ahead – assuring us that they have the skills to make the press and that all that is required is the funding to support the materials the hotpress plans and training to make the composites. We have sent them the basic instructions to start things moving and wait avidly for the final plans of our press from Canada.
